 One of Bartlett's newest Headquarter operations recently announced a merger that will make them one of the largest women's health care providers in southeast. Memphis Obstetrics and Gynecologist Association (MOGA) opened their newly constructed 16,000 SF Headquarters in Bartlett in December of 2019.
On February 1, 2020, they officially merged with Women's Health Specialists, adding them to the network of MOGA divisions including Mestemacher Clinic for Women and Women’s Physicians Group. As reported by the Memphis Business Journal, MOGA will now have "39 health care providers and over 150 local employees across eight Memphis-area locations. " MOGA President, Dr. Aric Giddens, says this merger will allow them to offer their patients services that the two groups could not do on their own, including in-office lab work and diagnostic mammograms. In the last 20 years, Bartlett has grown to be the tenth largest city in the state of Tennessee, and the epicenter for the State's largest exporting industry. Business In Focus Magazine took note, and dove into what has made Bartlett such a success over the years. This new facility will have state of the art aesthetics to ensure a wonderful environment for students and staff alike. It will double their resident capacity, and add a gym, theater, outdoor pool, neuro-feedback room, sensory room, health clinic, yoga room, hair salon and family rooms for visits. “We’re going to make sure we have the necessary support services to give all the young people the best that we have to help meet their greatest needs so they can leave here, return to their community and really have a better chance for success,” Lawler said. Planning for the project began seven or eight years ago with the initial concept calling simply for adding a gymnasium to the existing boys’ center. The plan blossomed into the current 100,000-square-foot addition. Bill’s Place is dedicated to William “Bill” and Marjorie Lawler, the parents of Patrick Lawler. Bill was born during the Great Depression and lost his mother when he was 2 years old. He grew up in an orphanage for a number of years, which led to a desire in his son to help children. As Bartlett High School undergoes its $60 M modernization, the Bartlett City School system and its students have earned the highest graduation rate of all the Shelby County school districts for the 2018-2019 school year. Abigail Warren of the Daily Memphian writes "All of Shelby County’s suburban school districts saw an increased graduation rate for the 2018-19 academic year, according to new data from the Tennessee Department of Education... Bartlett City Schools had the highest graduation rate of any district in the county and 12th in the state, with 593 of 605 students earning a regular diploma. The total is 98%, up 1.8% from last year."

SmartAsset explains "a healthy housing market is both stable and affordable," so the statistics that were used relate to the market's stability, affordability, fluidity and risk. In 2018 the average price of a home sold in Bartlett was $228,000. The lowest price home sold was $32,500 and the highest price was $484,000. This offers access for first time home-owners as well as business executives and everyone in between. With one of the county's best school systems and city services, Bartlett's housing market is a clear sign of the economic strength of the city.  Surface Dynamics announced that they will invest nearly $10 Million, and create 110 new jobs at their Bartlett facility in the next five years. This announcement comes following steady growth by the local facility in the last three years, as well as recent acquisitions by the international parent company, UnitedCoatings Group.
Surface Dynamics has grown their local employment by 300% in the last three years, and now they are set to add to that number even more. The company provides plasma coatings to medical devices and surgical equipment. They are an active corporate citizen, as a member of both the Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Memphis Medical Device Council. Their continued growth will benefit the local economy by providing quality, high skilled jobs to local residents, and providing a specialty service to the medical device manufacturers in the area. Soul Fish Cafe opens its fourth Memphis Area location by the Wolfchase mall at 5:00 pm on July 31, 2019. It is located in a newly constructed building at 8413 US 64. The Soul Fish Cafe has become a recognized name in the Memphis area, with locations in Germantown, East Memphis, and Cooper Young where they have been serving up catfish and po'boy sandwiches since 2006.
With its classic outdoor dining experience, the Soul Fish is bound to attract customers from all around the Bartlett area. In an article with the Memphis Business Journal, Tiger Bryant, co-owner of Soul Fish Cafe, was quoted on why this location was ideal, saying "We're going to be pulling from Bartlett, Arlington, Oakland, Cordova and it's just a big cross section of people coming from the Mid-South that come to the Area." Business Facilities' 2019 State rankings are out, and Tennessee tops the list for Best Business Climate. This echoes the message that Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has spread about the outstanding business climate and workforce of the Volunteer State. Business Facilities' Editor in Chief, Jack Rodgers, notes Tennessee's "customized workforce training, prefertilized sites or lower industrial electricity costs" as the points that raise it above the crowd.
In Shelby County, a priority has been put on developing sound workforce training in order to ensure companies that they will have a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers. Bartlett High school has a leading CNC Machining program and an extensive CTE vocational class program that allows students to graduate with credit towards their Technical Degree. Through their partnership with the Greater Memphis Medical Device Council, local Technical Schools and Community Colleges have coordinated with local industry, tailoring their curriculum to ensure graduates have the skills they need to be productive workers. Youth Villages is once again investing in growing their Bartlett Campus through a $22MM expansion of the Bill's Place facility. The project will add 100,000 SF to the facility, allowing for 72 new beds, a new school, gymnasium, counseling centers and more. This is only the latest of the growth stories, as Youth Villages opened up a center for abused and neglected girls called Jill's Place earlier this year.  A new Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) campus is set to break ground in the heart of the Bartlett Corporate Park. An article by the Daily Memphian explanis "The ultimate goal of the new campus is to increase workforce capacity for existing companies in the Memphis area, helping to keep their production here.
“This facility will be important for our region because it will allow us to train more students in really high-demand areas, with a focus on medical device, heating and air conditioning, mechatronics, automotive and heavy equipment,” Rayner said. "More than 200 jobs are available locally in the medical device industry alone." The new campus will provide training for industries such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning; automotive; industrial maintenance; information technology; advanced manufacturing; and heavy equipment.
