Business Facilities' 2019 State rankings are out, and Tennessee tops the list for Best Business Climate. This echoes the message that Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has spread about the outstanding business climate and workforce of the Volunteer State. Business Facilities' Editor in Chief, Jack Rodgers, notes Tennessee's "customized workforce training, prefertilized sites or lower industrial electricity costs" as the points that raise it above the crowd.
In Shelby County, a priority has been put on developing sound workforce training in order to ensure companies that they will have a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers. Bartlett High school has a leading CNC Machining program and an extensive CTE vocational class program that allows students to graduate with credit towards their Technical Degree. Through their partnership with the Greater Memphis Medical Device Council, local Technical Schools and Community Colleges have coordinated with local industry, tailoring their curriculum to ensure graduates have the skills they need to be productive workers.
