From Pre-school to Graduate School and everything beyond, Northeast Shelby County has the educational resources to provide academic stimulation for scholars of all ages.
The Shelby County School System (SCS), is led by Superintendent John S. Aitkin and contains 30 Elementary Schools, 14 Middle Schools and 8 High Schools. Shelby County Schools is consistently recognized as one of the best school systems in the state of Tennessee. In fact, last year for the fourth consecutive year, Shelby County Schools has earned all "A's" in Achievement on the Tennessee Report Card. This feat places SCS in elite company atop Tennessee's educational ranks, having been one of only 12 of the state's 136 school systems to score straight "A's" in Achievement. Plus, 3 out of 4 of Shelby County Schools tested "Above Average" or at "Exemplary" levels.
Northeast Shelby County is also home to rich educational resources beyond secondary education. From vocational training, to 2-4 year professional degree programs, local institutions for higher learning have what it takes to help students reach for their dreams.
The University of Memphis has been a catalyst for progress in Memphis and the Mid-South. Recognized for a strong academic and athletic program, the U of M has always been an integral component of the greater community.
